Release Time:2017-09-15Browse:

Universal Electronics is to stage a joint demonstration of its remote control and sensing technologies with the system-on-a-chip provider Amlogic.

The two companies have been working together on easing the integration with the set-top box as part of Amlogic’s latest UHD STB chipset.

“Consumers needs are evolving – they demand simple, universal control over their home entertainment and automation systems. At this year’s IBC, we want to share our approach for bringing sensing and control solutions into the living room to give consumers complete control over their home environment,” says Menno Koopmans, Managing Director at UEI. “Our joint demonstration with Amlogic will allow IBC attendees to witness this first-hand, giving them a chance to see what is possible when two technological giants come together and combine their talents and expertise.”

“The S905D SoC is ideally designed to meet operators’ requirements and to enable a high-quality user experience”, adds James Xie, Vice President of Corporate Business Strategy at Amlogic. “Pre-integrating UEI’s advanced remote control technologies on our platforms enables us to accelerate the deployment of UEI’s user friendly way to manage the connected home into different operators worldwide”

UEI is positioning its remotes at the centre of the connected home. Features include the automated discovery, setup and control software QuickSet as well as advanced Voice search and control capabilities over Bluetooth Low Energy, as well as One-Touch-View for reliable single button content access.

The Amlogic S905D SoC has been selected by major operators. It supports advanced media processing capable of decoding 4Kp60 10-bits HEVC and VP9 formats with advanced HDR schemes.
